Rentals.com Revenue Down 6% for Q2 2008

August 29, 2008 – 3:15 pm

The Transcript for the Primedia Q2 earnings call has just been released. Kim Payne, the CFO said rentals.com revenue declined by 6% compared to the second quarter of 2007 but Apartment Guide revenue saw a 2.6% increase.

“First, Apartment Guide continued to forward momentum with revenue increasing 2.6% compared to second quarter 2007 due primarily to an increase in the number of listings as well as online product upgrades. Revenue at Rentals.com declined by 6% compared to the second quarter 2007 as previous execution and engineering related issues continued to impact the business”

  2. That’s odd, mine is up. I thought theirs would be too.

  3. These services are certainly better than none, however, I’d think as an advertising apartment owner we’d all one top billing when we can have it.

We’ve created a service - www.occupancy100.com that accomplishes this. The service is built on pay per click advertising.

Using the service ourselves we average between 1st and 2nd on the search page. Our lease applications have doubled and the number of qualified candidates is up sharply as well.

I’m not surprised that revenue for these companies is falling. The service is too limited for apartment owners and managers
