Recent Google Dance Effects Rental Sites

November 3, 2007 – 1:32 pm

The recent Google dance, a term used when Google updates its database, has many webmasters up in arms. This most recent update has effected thousands of sites and has decreased their pagerank. The rumor is Google is really hitting those sites that buy and sell links that don’t have the no follow tag. A tag used so search engines know not to follow and pass page rank. Essentially, Google does not want businesses trying to increase their page rank unnaturally by buying links.

Some rental sites that were effected by this recent change (Note: this does not mean these sites bought or sold links, it means they were effected by the recent Google Update):

RentalHouses.com

  • PageRank 4 reported 15 minutes ago
  • PageRank 5 reported on 10/01/2007

ForRent.com

  • PageRank 6 reported on 09/05/2007

  2. I would love to see House.info go away but the page rank drop does not seem to affect the rankings at all.

House.info buys a lot of links, I don’t think they sell them. I hope Google changes their system to push House.info to the bottom!

  3. This could be why I have a marked increase in regards to rental inquiries this week. Good for me and thanks for the 411 :)
