Top 10 Real Estate 2008 Predictions

December 26, 2007 – 1:32 pm

I am not very good at predicting the future and don’t have access to the Wisdom of Crowds data, but here is an attempt to predict the future of the real estate industry for 2008.

  1. The real estate web2.0 lingo will die and someone will try to make up new lingo for web3.0.
  2. Freemium will become much more evident in the real estate space but will die due to lack of a monetization strategy.
  3. WebMashups will continue to be the cool kid in school but will inevitably be working at Wendy’s after high school.
  4. Maps will continue to slow down real estate sites.
  5. Craigslist will still have an awful UI and search experience.
  6. There will be a National MLS but the US still won’t care about soccer.
  7. There will be many more annoying real estate videos that bloggers will spend days talking about.
  8. Poetry will not sell homes.
  9. Irrational Exuberance will show his head again.
  10. Redfin’s CEO Glenn Kellman will be on Regus and Kelly, Good Morning America, The View, CSI Las Vegas, The Tonight Show, House, Grey’s Anatomy and will be a guest speaker at NAR.

Have a great 2008!

  4. Seems like a fair assesment. After some of what I’ve seen here in 2007, even number 10 might be true.
