The Real Estate Electronic Organizer - A Revolution

September 23, 2009 – 3:33 pm

Forget about the Apple Tablet, take a look at this Microsoft Courier. It is in the late beta stage and should hit the market soon.

This is going to change the way we organize and interact. Imagine the possibilities for Realtors.

  2. Hmm, handwriting recognition sounds as promising as voice recognition. A game changer, but still a ways away.

Dan, do you take the over/under on this actually working in the next 5 years, and why?

  3. Matt - Excellent question -

I like the comparison between voice recognition and handwriting recognition. As more data is fed into both these recognition algorithms the output becomes much more reliable - Today I would say voice recognition is at 5 - 10% of what it could be. Just take Google voice search for example - It is wrong more often than it is right but many times better than it was a year ago.

Within 5 years there is no doubt these technologies will become more accurate. Why?

    - Large focus on Entering New Markets

Lots of R&D being spent on innovative technologies like Voice Recognition (Google Voice) and Image Recognition (Google Book Scan). With the recent acquisition of reCapthca Google’s OCR algorithms will become smarter virtually over night

    - More food (data) for the Algos

Today, it is easier to get voice data and image data then it was even 3 years ago.

With the proliferation of interactive mobile devices like the iPhone and the android OS, we are now uploading massive amounts of data to blogs, facebook pages, picaso, youtube, twitter, etc on a scale never seen before.

The more photos we upload, the more we voice search and the more we feed these voice to text and OCR algorithms, the better return we will see as it relates to the quality of the services being offered.

  4. Dan,

I am a realtor and can see this potential but weight and durability are two concerns of mine. Have there been any indications as to the durability and weight this hardware will have?

    Thanks

  5. Not anywhere that I have read. I would guess the weight of a Kindle perhaps.
