I think the blame should mainly be on the lenders and the buyers! For making stupid decisions.
This is no different than than me taking my wife to the local auto dealer and buying her a BMW that we cannot afford.
Who’s fault is that? The dealer? I don’t think so. I am responsible for the decisions that I have made when I buy something that I cannot afford.
