Rent.com and Single Family Homes
October 2, 2007 – 10:19 pmRent.com is supposedly launching a single family home rental website to compete with the likes of rentalhomesplus, rentvine, rentals.com, mynewplace and others. They are no longer accepting postings on rent.com of 20 units or less and are most likely going to launch the new site early in 2008.
What does this mean for the single family home market? Not much, I think Rent.com finally realized they were missing out on a lot of revenue and decided to spin off and try to increase market share for the single family home market. One thing that many of the larger sites are finding out is the single family home market is extremely fragmented and very hard to get to. It is a lot easier to sign deals with 6 major REITs than it is to sign 6 million deals with the estimated number of real estate investors with inventory in the United States.
Good luck Rent.com, welcome to the world of single family rental homes.

dont let them fool you they will be a major player ebay may have taken some hits by over paying for skype but they do a heck of a job with rent.com they know how to place their magazine -in walmarts i wonder if the will also do a magazine with property managers or small investment companies that have home rentals and place them in walmarts and other places too as the magazine is free and they can run ad’s for their website there
