Frontdoor.com Powered by HGTV

I originally saw this post on TheRealEstateBloggers.  Frontdoor.com has launched and it looks like it is taking aim at Zillow and Trulia to be a place for owners to research and find properties for sale. The Scripts Network which owns frontdoor and other sites like DIY, HGTV, Food Network, Bizrate, Shopzilla and others, is trying to leverage their offline and online real estate properties to make the real estate search experience more robust.

From the about page of FrontDoor.com:

When it comes to browsing real estate online, there are tons of options. Take your pick.

  • Some websites claim to have more “homes for sale” listings than anyone else.
  • Some excel at presenting lots of useful data.
  • A few focus on approximating home values.
  • Still others are very proud of their interactive maps.

If you’re looking for lots of listings, great data and nice cartography, then those are all very useful things.

But at FrontDoor, we’re willing to bet that what you’re really looking for is, well, a home.

Because of that, we believe that the home searching experience should be about more than just the boards and the bricks. It should be about what it’s like to live in that building, on that street, and in that neighborhood.

By the way, we do have lots of listings (1.3 million and counting), all the facts and figures you could ever want, a great suite of calculators and tools to help you crunch the numbers and, yeah, we think our maps are pretty spiffy, too.

We like to say that searching for a home on FrontDoor is like going house hunting with a smart friend. We’ll give you real-world advice and strategies, plus we’ll help you find as much information as possible to make an informed decision. At FrontDoor, we don’t treat our viewers as potential leads. Instead, we like to think of you as a good neighbor, one that we hope will stick around for a very long time. You can find a home by searching our national database of homes for sale and ensure you make the best decisions using our Buyers, Sellers and Home Finance guides.
