Trump University Down 66.3%

February 17, 2008 – 3:19 pm

Trump University, the real estate investing program designed by Donald Trump is not doing too well in terms of traffic. According to compete.com data, the sites traffic is down 66.3% for the last year.

Is there a correlation with visits to a site and revenue? Since Trump Entertainment Resorts, Inc, (TRMP) does not breakout revenue by site or property, it is hard to tell if less traffic equals less revenue.

However, TRMP stock price is down 77.78% for the last year. This is a combination of an awful for sale market and lack of diversification in their products.

  4. I have seen their site Analytics and Compete is WAAAAY off. Traffic is actually up. Compete is wrong and you shouldn’t trust them since it is ONLY AN ESTIMATE and in this case a bad estimate

  5. Hi M,

Thank you for your feedback. I agree, Compete data and others are more directional. Do you mind sharing what their site analytics data says?

Looks like quantcast data shos a decrease in uniques per month as well.

Would love to get a more accurate estimate for our readers.

  6. I’ll just jump in with the problem I encounter when referencing Quantcast, Alexa or Compete with clients. Those sites can be inaccurate about traffic and demographics compared to the actual data the client has from their own logs. Not always, but sometimes. I love Alexa’s inbound links, and I love Quantcast overall, but I have to continually remind myself “everything in here could be wrong!” (Full Disclosure: my agency, Tanen Directed Advertising, does some DM work for Trump University)

  7. Let me chime in with some notes from inside TrumpU…

Our site traffic has remained steady and is growing. The TrumpU business continues to remain profitable and is growing every day.

    Let me make two points.
First, the traffic stats you have been referencing only show limited data and don’t tell the full story.

Second, While it is possible some of our historical traffic might have been driven by pop culture news (Donald and Rosie feud etc) you can’t see the search terms driving the business or qualified traffic. I can tell you that the traffic we are now generating is more targeted and relevant then in the past and continues to improve along with site conversions.

Hope this helps with your commentary.
