RIP - 1457 - 2015 (Traditional Newspapers)

March 2, 2008 – 2:06 pm

It is only a period of time when the headstone of tradition newspapers will read 1457 - 2015.

A recent poll by Zogby International  shows that 67% view traditional journalism as “out of touch”.

Nearly half of respondents (48%) said their primary source of news and information is the Internet, an increase from 40% who said the same a year ago.

Other findings from the survey include:

    * Three in four (75%) believe the Internet has had a positive impact on the overall quality of journalism.

    *  Nearly a third (32%) said Internet sites are their most trusted source for news and information, followed by newspapers (22%), television (21%) and radio (15%).

  2. I think newspapers will be around longer than that - however I think the classified section will disappear unless the get involved in SEO.

  3. I think newspapers will be around but in electronic form. You are right Dave, the classifieds sections will disappear driving revenues and profits down. Print will be too expensive to produce and everything will be pushed electronically on the web.
