  2. Let’s see if they make the mistake of thinking they can cover the entire USA….these obscure websites can not compete with the already established national websites that are KNOWN by would-be renters.

Property managers are aware of how much time it takes to input a web listing which is why I no longer post on our local MLS rental section because it asks for too many manditory fields that are “sale” oriented and not necessary for a rental listing.

Listing with POSTLET and Craigslist hits the majority of the national sites WITH one 5 minute posting…and it’s FREE

  3. Thanks W. Gibson,

I am going to have to respectfully disagree with you.

The rental market is becoming more and more fragmented everyday. Due to the low barriers to entry, we are seeing hundreds of national rental and classifieds sites hit the market.

This is called the longtail of rental sites. In aggregate, the longtail of rental sites drive more traffic than the top rental sites.

Postlets does not hit the majority of national sites. Postlets posts rentals on 7 sites that accept rentals as compared to Rent Marketer which posts rentals on over 60 unique national and local sites.

  5. I would say I get 70% of my rental inquiries through my postlet listings on Craigslist…I can tell they have seen my listing and linked through to my website. I posted a new listing last Thursday at 9P and got a call 20 min later….I doubt there are prospective renters in their jammies watching American Idol waiting for my listing to appear on MyNewPlace…

Additionally, I am getting prospective client inquiries from the same source as rental property owners know to use CL and view my listing procedures.

Since my market is very small yet mobile - we did not even have our own CL listing until 2 years ago * taking additional time to input listing information on many obscure websites or sites that do not service the Central VA area are not worth the time much less the money.

Atlanta, Boise, Charlotte….yes, maybe; but not when there is no nearby area that is populated by other rental listings.
