HotPads.com launches Featured Listings
March 25, 2008 – 10:02 amHotPads.com, a map based rental search site, has launched featured listings. The Hotpads featured program allows advertisers to get more visibility for their properties in two ways.
1) The featured property will be highlighted on the map by a blue box.
2) They will replace the map icon with a large advertising Icon
The pricing for the featured program is rather unique and is based on an auction style. Instead of a CPC (Cost Per Click) or CPM (Cost per Thousand Impressions), Hotpads offers a CPD or Cost Per Day. Here is how it works:
Featured listings are displayed on an Auction basis, so properties with a CPD of $4 will be featured 4X more often than a listing being featured with a CPD of $1.
Tracking:
Hotpads offers a tracking and reporting feature as well.
The only question that comes to mind is if there are no page views for a specific market for a day, does the advertiser still pay the CPD that they set up in the system?

Dan,
This was a soft launch! :)
We have yet to even mention this on our own Blog.
But, to answer your question, if a particular featured listing does not receive enough impressions to fill a given order, our clients are issued credits to their account that they can apply to future featured listings or they can request a refund of the under served amount.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks Doug. Seems like I am ahead of the game :)
Thanks for the clarification on the pricing too.
